Deck the Halls

Being that Thanksgiving and Christmas are so close there is always a surge of excitement the day after Thanksgiving for Christmas.  People rush around Black Friday trying to find the perfect deal and the best gift for someone special.  Although, there are many more ways other than shopping to get into the Christmas spirit.

I was able to find the coolest website, Christmas.com, all things dedicated to Christmas.  They had a blog post with ideas for getting into the Christmas spirit.

They recommended, finding the perfect tree, counting down to Christmas day, having a night of hot chocolate and tree decorating, getting crafty, giving back to others, playing Christmas music, having a christmas movie night, making Christmas ornaments, visiting Santa Claus and last but not least driving around to see Christmas lights.

I hope people find a way to get in the spirit!

Thankful on Thanksgiving

(Thanks to Pacific Grill Tacoma)

Reading blogs on patheos by Mark Roberts was really interesting.

Being that thanksgiving is around the corner I thought it would be fun to have a Thanksgiving themed blog and therefore I searched for someone who had blogged about Thanksgiving.

Roberts's blog talks about how thanksgiving is a great holiday, but can be worrisome at the same time.  Roberts argues that because Thanksgiving is only one day a year the idea of thankfulness only being focused around that day is not good.  Roberts believes that instead every day we should be mindful of our thankfulness.

In the end Roberts believes that by being thankful more often (than just Thanksgiving) we can share our gratitude which will help people to magnify the good things in their life.

Lesson learned, make Thanksgiving a season of thankfulness!

Happy Thanksgiving Everyone!

Around The World, with Only $300?

Sam Huang writes in a blog called TopMiles and he really has picked up a lot of mileage throughout his life.

Recently, Huang's blog was talked about on the MSN homepage.  Huang, had figured out how to travel the world in luxurious first class with only $300.  Huang's trip really should have costed him $60,000, but with the help of loop holes and frequent flyer miles he managed to get around that hefty price tag.

Huang has picture after picture of the interior of the air planes, which in normal circumstances would not be impressive; but the planes Huang was on were nothing less than unique.  Huang's blog opens up possibilities for the general public to indulge in amazing travels.

Her Rudy: Lucky Dog Rescue Blog

Ashley is a woman who started a rescue for dogs called Lucky Dog Rescue.  Ashley has rescued many dogs through out her lifetime and because of her passion for saving dogs Ashely started her own rescue.

One of Ashley's very own rescue dogs was Rudy.  Rudy was found one a three foot chain after his family moved away leaving him without water, food or love.  The pound was about to put Rudy down when Ashley took Rudy in.

Rudy's life was greatly changed for the better because of Ashley, but unfortunately in 2010 Rudy suffered from an unexpected heart attack and passed away.

Now Ashley looks in shelters for her next Rudy; her next dog that she will save.

A Blog About Dogs

Freddie and Finnbarr, my dogs

Looking at the blog, Allergies be gone-a look back on the Daily Dog Blog  was really interesting for me because I have a dog with allergies.

The blog post told a story about how a dog named Cali had allergies that caused her a lot of severe medical problems. My dog also has allergies, but his allergies cause less serious reactions.  Cali went to many vets some even being holistic vets, but it wasn't until she started receiving steroids that her health improved.

It was strange reading the blog because I have never heard of a dog with such horrible allergies.  The worst allergies I have heard of is my friend who is allergic to five different types of food and has an anaphylactic reaction to all of them.

Unlike these serious allergies, my Golden Doodle, Finnbarr, is hypo-allergenic, but has allergies to nature. Finnbarr is allergic to grass and trees.

It is crazy to think that a dog could be allergic to the basic things that involve their favorite activity: a WALK.  Even though Finnbarr has these allergies my family still lets him roll in all the grass he wants because his reactions are not serious.

Although, to combat Finnbarr's favorite activities we give him allergies shots, medicines and special foods to keep his skin from having irritations.

I wish all dogs and people good luck who are battling out their awful allergic reactions!

"who's that girl?"

When told to research on blogs about blogs I first didn’t know what to do.  Although, then I thought it may be interesting to learn more about a blogger and possibly why they are blogging.

Furthermore, I am often interested by younger bloggers because they are more relatable and really impressive when they are so young; like Ophelia Horton (who is 12).

Ophelia runs a blog called who's that girl?. She bases her blog around fashion because she is an avid fashionista.  Ophelia is also interested in photography and named her blog the way she did because she originally could not post any pictures of herself.

Thanks to Ophelia's blog!
